One Door

When one door closes another one opens
Unfortunately it's the screen door
The one behind it remains firmly locked

When one door closes a window opens
Unfortunately it's too small to gain any kind of egress
The blinds are drawn
Their slats provide no new insights of the worlds within
nor the dwellers of non descript skins

We lie beside the still waters
Listening to the sounds from the house
Old records and muted conversations
Waiting for someone to open the door
