Ghosts Upon The Waves

Old Johnny Rice he drown in the cut
Fishing all day without out any luck
Tripped on the bait, I guess his number was up
Now he's just another ghost upon the waves

Hi-ho the old ones
Against the briney deep
Risin' on the swells
I can hear them as they breathe
Singing ancient songs to the old man and the sea
In all of their titanic majesty

Crazy miss Lisa went out in the storm
Her back to the waves as they broke on the shore
Several large combers and she was no more
She's just another ghost upon the waves

Hi-ho and up she'll rise against the bounding maine
Standin' at the pulpit when the deck began to sway
Speaking to a siren some blue heaven sent my way
To navagate across the rocky straits

Jacob and Issac were barely afloat
Too many fish and not enough boat
Along came a gale and the whole thing got broached
Two more haunted ghosts upon the waves

Hi-ho the old ones they're singing in the sea
May the angels make a cradle on the waves beneath your feet
And cast away the demons 'round the bed on which you sleep
To dream of drunkin raptures in the deep
